Today I received a new email from Google. It announced the introduction of a new service in Google Analytics: Benchmarking! I rapidly login in my analytics account to see this new feature and what it has.

First you must enable this option. When you login, if you don’t see a yellow settings box than just click on Edit settings link. From there you can allow benchmarking. After that go to the site you want your data to view and in the “Visitors” tab you will see a new option: benchmarking. Click on it. You will see statistics about verticals in the business. This should help you see how your site is doing compared to other websites in the industry. For more info visit the Google analytics blog.

Google also introduced new graphics options: by day, by week and by month. This will let you chose much more easy the time interval that you can see the graphics of your visitors and also to make comparisons between two time periods. Except for this no new feature has been introduced. For more info visit the article from Google Analytics Blog.

Even if these new features are still in Beta, they work just fine and I did not see any bugs or something. I recommend you try them out.

Google analytics is one of the most used website statistic tools on the internet. It show quality and useful information about your visitors, the pages they visited, your referral URLs and much more. Now you can have all the stats and some more right on your desktop with a simple AIR tool.

While browsing the internet I found this useful tool: http://www.aboutnico.be/index.php/google-analytics-air-beta-sign-up/

If you are tired with the same analytics interface then this is the right tool for you. It has the option to monitor many websites and get accurate information right from google analytics about your website. The software is really easy to use and it is free, so why don;t you give it a try.The interface is smooth and clean (see image below)

The Google Analytics Reporting suite is an Adobe AIR application that brings Google Analytics to the desktop. It uses it’s own custom API to interact with Google and nearly implements all features of Analytics.

It is currently only in beta stage but the tests that I made so far did not reveal any problems. The export functions work really well, but there still is a feature that I would love to have it. Currently you can only export every stat in a separate file. There isn’t an option to add different widgets to the dashboard and export stats from all of them in one single file. I submitted a request for this function so there is a big chance we will have it in the next version. There are also a few more interesting things that I did not find in analytics interface. For you can view exactly the page that your referral send the visit from, not only the domain. Another feature that currently is not working in the beta is the ability to compare two dates, but this feature will be available in the next version.

Give this software a try and I am sure you will find it useful. And if you find any bugs, problems or if you want a new feature don’t hesitate to contact the author. I am sure that any help he can get will be appreciated.
