I made a long time ago a simple image hosting script. Some of you may know it. I stopped development on that script mostly because I don’t have time to learn PHP that well to build an advanced script, but also because there are very professional scripts on the internet.
Some requested that I build more features in my script. That is why in this small article I am going to present you a script that has every feature you need for an image host. The script is build by x10Media, a company that has a lot of powerful scripts on the market.

For all of you that want a professional image hosting script, check out the script they offer. It is very well build, with a lot of features and also very easy to set up. You can upload images, and with those images create image slideshows, image galleries, a randomizer, copyrights, resize the image, make borders, and SO much more.

PHP (version 4.3 or higher)

Ioncube Loaders (this will not in anyway impact on the ability to modify the script)

Apache Mod_Rewrite Enabled

Best performance and Optional Settings

Don’t hesitate to visit the website. I am sure this script is perfect for anyone that wants to start an image hosting website. http://x10media.com

As I mentioned…I have a litle new script for you. The script is a dynamic, XML driven, piechart made in Flash. It is free to download by anyone who is interested!

As I mentioned, the chart is driven by a smal XML file…so no ActionScript coding is necesary. just embend the SWF file in you page. before I exmplain further how to make changes to the chart, lets first see it in action:

Hope you like it. now, let get down to the technical part.

After downloading, you will see two files: the SWF file and the XML file. to make any changes to the chart, just open the XML file with any text editor. The structure of the XML file must be kept as it is, but there can be any number of items added (but I don’t recommend more than 50). I strongly recommend makeing a back-up of this original file just in case your XML file does not work. But, as long as you keep everything intact it should work just fine.
XML file structure:

<data>
<chart>
<value>3</value>
<label>Our Compnay</label>
<color>0xFF0000</color>
</chart>
</data>

For every new value you want to appear in the piechart, you must paste what is between <chart> </chart>
The value indicates the hos mutch space from the chart this item will ocupy. If you have the values in percent (%) enter it without the “%” sign.
Every new item can have a label. This is optional but is recommended if you want users to know what the piece of the chart means.
The color is necesary. It must be entered as a RGB value with “0x” in front. Example: 0xFF0000 = red

About the terms…you are free to use the file on your website and distribute it freely on the internet as long as the copyright remains intact. Youa re not allowed to sell this file.

Also, please note this file need Flash Player 9 or above to run.

Download

A few days ago Google has finally announced the first phone that will run on the new, open source, Android OS. The phone is the HTC G1 (also known as HTC Dream).

The new Google phone will first be supplied only on T-Mobile network, but in the future (about the begining of 2009) the phone will be available in Europe as well.

As we expected, the Google phone will be a really good rival to the iPhone, not only because of its design and configuration, but mostly because of the Android OS, and open source mobile OS. This has many advantages. First of all, there will be many applications available (both free and payed) and secondly you will always find help if something goes wrong.

The G1 comes with a nice touch-screen, a full QWERTY keyboard and with many applications pre-installed. The Android OS has a nice web browser, applications like Google Maps, Gmail and many more. Also, it is very customazible, Android letting you replace even key-features of the OS.

The phone has nice 3MP camera, but sadly no flash. Also, this is really cool internet device, beein 3G compatible and also having Wi-Fi capabilities.

The price will start from about 135$ and will hit the US market this month.

You can see a short video below:

Until a month ago I only had a CD-Rom and a CD-Writer. I did not use those to mutch…mostly for burning Hollyday pictures, websites back-ups and projects that I was working on. To me it was more than enough. Until I came back from the contest I’ve been writting a few posts back.

There, at the end of the contest, we each received a DVD that contained all the seminars that were held, all the projects that were presented (including the ones made at the Open part of the contest) and some pictures that others took. Evrything had about 3GB…so it was imposible to put them on one CD and inneficient to split everything so it will fit on more CDs. Now I realised that I really needed a small upgrade for my comptuer. Not only I could not see the content of the DVD, but I couldn’t even make copies of the DVD to send to the other two members from my team (they could not make it to the contest).

So, I bought a DVD-RW and everything was fine. I went on holyday, and when I came back it was picture time. Here, it turned out, that a CD was also useless. The total ammount of pictures that we tooks was 1,7GB…way more than a CD can hold. Lucky for me…I already had a DVD writer and could put everything on a nice DVD for sending to my friends.

At this time, I also started to download some Linux LIVE CDs. Every distro was build in such a way it could fit on a CD. Also, because they were bootable CD’s I could not put them all on one DVD. So, here was I, going back to the old-fashion CD.

Anyway, I put a question in the title. Is the CD era over? Well…not yet, but it does not have more time. Even the DVD is now an old device. The new Blue-ray disc has much more storadge capacity. But, beeing at it’s begining, the DVD still has a lot of ‘life’ in front of it.

The internet has evolved a lot since it first began. Content becomes more and more complex and the posibilities seem unlimited. Let’s take a journey to the past to see how it all began, come back to the present and see what lies in the future of the internet.

The internet was created by ser Tim Berners-Lee at CERN in 1989. He wanted something to send and receive information between many computers located in CERN. Actually he wanted to be able to store some data (test results and many more) on a computer and other could connect and read those datas.

Every resource was accesed by it’s adress or URL (uniform resource locator). There was also a protocol for accesing these datas: HTTP. These resources were viewed as documents and these documents could contain inside them other URLs. He had the ideea that “everythink could link to everything”. This way the Internet was born. At first very small but it growned fast.

But is actually a website? A website is a colection of many pages (documents) conected to one-another that refer to a specific company or organization. There are also web aplications. These aplications are web pages rendered dinamycally that is ment to give the user some sort of functionality. The interactivity between the user and the web server is done throught a web interface. The web interface actually is the site. Web application=Interface+Data+Program. All of them are important. If one fails, the entire architecture fails.

What about Web 2.0? Most of you will think of fancy layouts with glossy buttons and cool reflexions. But that isn’t actually Web2.0 in terms of programming. Web 2.0 means that the user can generate content. In web 1.0 the user was just a consumer. The web was most “Read-only”.

“The web is more a social creation than a technical one. The ultimate goal of the Web is to support and improve our web?like existence in the world. We clump into families, associations, and companies. We develop trust across miles and distrust around a corner.” – Tim Berners?Lee

Tim O’Reilly in 2005 said that Web 2.0 means that the user can control the data on the web. So this lead to the apparition of new applications: Weblogs (Blogs), Wikis, Social Networking Websites, Potcasts, Videocasts and many more. Later, this lead to the apparition of servicies and NOT program packages.Many programs like MS Office started to be replaced, slwoly but surely, by services like Google Docs, Photo Album software have been replaced almost completly by Adobe Photoshop Express or similar services. The list can go on.

This way, the web was not read-only anymore but read/write web. Any user can ad new content to the web with a few clicks. The user now chooses exactly what, when and were he wants to see. But with this freedom there was also a problem of rights. That is why Creative Commons appeared: reasonable, flexible copyright. Everyone was happy: The original author and the readers and users as well.

Web blogs became very popular in this period. There were hundreds of new blogs every day. Also a new ideea, micro-blogs, evolved later on (Twitter). Wikis started to become more and more trusworthy. Everyone that needed some information about a specific historical event or a country or many more things would go to wikipedia to find it.

With all these there was a major problem. All of the websites needed you to log-in in order for you to make changes to the web. If you have accounts to many services you would need to have a different username and a pasword for each if you want to stay secure. If you have the same username/password, in case one gets hacked the hacker has acces to all the other accounts as well. Remembering these is really hard. so that is why OpenID was invented:one account to controll everything. High secure digital identity for each and unyque user.

Because of all this, a few problems can come to the surface. The main one is “information overlow”. To much data for the user to pick. A studdy has shown that 44% of the adult american population is a public web writer. In web 3.0 these problems start to be fixed. Web 3.0 is “Semantic Web”. The solution is RDF (Resource Description Framework). Using an association of meta-data the web is organized. This can also be done to create relations between people in Social Networking Websites. This evolotion will also lead to the aparition of other services like WebOS and Inteligent Services.

Conclusion:
Anyone can say anything about anything
No one knows everything about anything
My system is most valuable because of its interconnection to its peers

Many of you know me as a small internet marketer that has a few computer knowledge and can program small scripts or programs. But only a few people know that I am more than that. Few know that I have (had) a few bigger projects.

On Sunday 11:23PM my train came back. I was at a very important contest for youg programmers (like me). The contest, called Infoeducation, has a long tradition and is held for 14 years. This was my first time there and I was very pleased with what I did. I had a really big eLearning project for phisics. The project took my team one year to make it. The team was composed of me as both designer and programmer, Timo as the programmer and Laura for the phisics part.

I was the only one from the team that went there. I presented the project and waited for the results. The best 5 projects go into “Open” where one member of the team has to make a completly new project in just 24 hours. No Internet conection, no telephone, just our knowledge and software that we need. I was in the first 5. In those 24 hours I had to do an eLearning software for children to learn 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade math.

I got 2nd place there This is the most important contest I have been too and I am very pleased with what I did there. I also learned many new things from al the seminaries there were hold there. My next few articles will covered a few of those seminaries that I think are interesting. So come back again.

As you may know I have written my second eBook and I started to sell it. As every internet marketer I will need a as many visitors as I can to my landing pages. That is why I decided to host a contest.

Contents had proven to bee a really good marketting solution. The contest will help me promote my eBook and in the same time can give you one nice domain name: diggexchange.net. The domain is registered at domainrightnow.com and still hase a few month left. It is an undeveloped domain name but I am sure it has a lot of potential. The winner will also get a copy of the ebook.

So, What must you do? I have made two landing pages for my eBook. All you have to do is make a small article on your website/blog about this ebook and post a link to one of these landing pages. After that post a comment with the link to the article so I can approve it. If you have more websites/blogs you can post on each one and this will give you more chances to win.

Also, if you post an article about this contest you get another chance to win.

The landing pages are:

marketing-ebook.blinkweb.com/ and marketing-ebook.weebly.com/ You will find there all the information you need about the ebook.

So happy posting
