iPhone publishing for everyone

We all know about the iPhone. It is (probably) the most famous phone on the market right now. Not necessarily the best phone, but that is another story. Anyway, one of the things that made the iPhone the phone it is today is the possibility to buy games/apps for it. I am not talking about simple java games. I am talking about real 3D games with a lot of features. Until not to long ago…making a game for the iPhone wasn’t something  anyone can do. If you want to make your iPhone games, than read on.

While searching for something else I stumbled upon a game engine that sais it has everything you need to make cool 3D games. 3D game engines are not new. I played with a few, from Dark Basic and 3D Game Studio to some simple ones like The Game Creator. None gave me the flexibility I need. So I ended up creating casual Flash games. The thing that caught my attention to this game engine is the fact that it had one thing highlighted in the description: Publish games for Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, PDA, Smartphone and iPhone. Yes, you read it correct. This game engine can export your games for iPhone and all you have to do is publish it on the appStore. Like I said, this caught my attention and decided to read more about the engine.

The more I read about it, the more amazed I was. It had everything a game engine needs: particle system, build-in terrain editor,  reflection, refraction, physics engine, collision detection, bone system and the list can go on and on. It looked so perfect that I decided to download the PLE version just to give it a test drive.

The PLE version comes with a few example that demonstrated the power of the game engine. And it did a really good job proving this is the best commercial game engine on the market. It went over my expectations. I can’t really describe how it is except perfect. Perfect for any freelancer or small organization that wants to make small 3D game for almost any platform imaginable.
